A Little More About "For Tomorrow"…

We are proud to present “For Tomorrow,” an independent film directed by Kenneth Kokin whose past productions include the multiple Academy Award winning film “The Usual Suspects” and “The Way of the Gun” at Boca Fiesta, 232 SE 1st Street at 9:00 pm on August 28, 2009. “For Tomorrow” played at the Tribeca and Newport Beach Film festivals last year.

Blake Mycoskie, a successful young entrepreneur and reality TV star, had been living in the fast lane and was looking to take a break. He traveled to Argentina for nothing more than good wine, polo playing, and relaxation. Instead an unlikely bond with his polo instructor and exposure to an unimaginable level of poverty combined to trigger the start of a company that would revolutionize the shoe industry. Mycoskie witnessed first hand children walking miles to get fresh water, not wearing any shoes. This lack of shoes exposed the children to illnesses as well as kept them from attending school. Using these obstacles as inspiration, he decided to start TOMS, Shoes for Tomorrow, a shoe company where for every pair of shoes sold, a pair would be given away to a child in need. This documentary takes place a year after Mycoskie’s initial trip. He returns to Argentina, this time with volunteers, to hand deliver 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in need. This story of hope and inspiration shows how combining creativity and compassion with hard work can create revolutionary change. “One for One”. This innovative relationship between commerce and charity has set the example, and has inspired many other individuals and companies to incorporate giving in all that they do. Changing a life begins with a single step.
