SP had about twelve community artists come to downtown Gainesville to collaborate on the mural associated with neutralizing carbon footprint of THE FEST. It was a wonderful time. We constructed three 8′ x 8′ panels using recycled wood from previously demolished structures and the artists used reclaimed, donated house paints. When the artists finished on Sunday night, the pieces had been transformed from eclectic-looking wood panels to beautiful, colorful art reflecting of the common good of our environment. On Tuesday, November 18th, at The Sharab we will auction-off each of these pieces.
Carbon-Neutral FEST

Society Promotions is partnering with the promoters of The FEST to make this huge 3 day music festival a carbon-neutral event. The carbon-neutral folks are going to have a booth advertising/educating about what they do and how others can participate. To promote all this, we have asked a handful of amazingly talented local artists to come out and, over the course of the three days, create a huge collaborative mural.

Have you ever watched professional ice-skaters in intense competition? As I drove away from the triple-header event, hosted by Society Promotions at Vineyard of Gainesville, featuring the haunting stylistics of Ricky Kendall and The Spooky Divide, a jam-packed art show featuring the art of Evan McIntyre, Mike McVicar, Ricky Kendall and Delmaris Villafane, and the final performance of a Gainesville favorite, Officer Flossie, I was reminded of Ice-skating competitions I had seen in the Winter Olympics a few years ago.
